As some of you know Deep Ellum, which struggled to survive for so long, is on the upswing again. Their are several restaurants in the area which are enjoying this renewed success. One of these is the Boiler Room on Elm.
Here’s a peek at what they have to offer (for the full menu go to theboilerroomdallas.com). There are several great appetizer options at the Boiler Room. Here are just three to consider: fried pickles and jalapenos ($.4.99), deviled eggs with bacon, pickle, avocado, and a touch of onion ($4.25) and the salmon and cream cheese crostonis ($6.25).
For sandwiches, vegetarians and weight-watchers will enjoy the veggie and goat cheese sadwich ($6.99) while your average Joe will lovingly devour the classic shrimp po-boy ($7.99).
When ordering your entree you should seriously consider the Jack Daniel’s Pork Chop which comes with mashed potatoes and green beans. Or you might want to go with one of my favorite dishes on the planet – Chicken Fried Steak ($8.99). The Boiler Room boasts that their Chicken Fried Steak is so tender you can cut it with a fork. It comes also comes with mashed potatoes and green beans.
The sides at the Boiler Room cost $2.95 each and include garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, steamed veggies, sauteed spinach, jalapeno cilantro ranch style beans, French fries, steamed broccoli, and seasonal fruit.
Finally don’t forget about dessert. They each cost $6.99 and you can get chocolate cake, cheese cake, key lime pie, hot fudge/caramel sundae, or apple pie with ice cream.
